TowingIQ ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at towingiq.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

The short version: TowingIQ does not collect information you enter. The Site is a static reference site with no user accounts, analytics, cookies, or tracking. If you choose to use the VIN decoder, your browser sends the VIN directly to the NHTSA service described below.

Information We Collect

Personal information

We do not collect personal information you enter. There are no user accounts, login forms, registration flows, or sign-up prompts on this Site. A VIN entered in the optional decoder is not added to a TowingIQ URL or stored by TowingIQ; it is sent from your browser to NHTSA as described below.

Usage data and analytics

We do not use any analytics services. We do not run Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, or any other first-party or third-party analytics tools. We do not track page views, session duration, referral sources, or any other usage metrics.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set any cookies. We do not use local storage, session storage, or any other client-side storage mechanism to store information about you or your visit.

Third-party tracking

We do not embed any third-party tracking pixels, beacons, or scripts. We do not use advertising networks, retargeting services, or social media tracking widgets.

Server logs

Our hosting infrastructure may automatically collect standard server access logs, which can include your IP address, browser user-agent string, referring URL, and the pages you requested. These logs are maintained by our hosting provider as part of normal server operations and are not accessed or analyzed by TowingIQ for any purpose beyond infrastructure security and uptime monitoring.

Third-Party Services

Hosting

The Site is hosted on third-party infrastructure. Your connection to the Site is subject to the hosting provider's own privacy practices regarding server logs and network-level data. We do not control or access these logs for marketing, profiling, or user tracking purposes.

Fonts

The Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When you visit a page, your browser makes a request to Google's font servers to retrieve the font files. This request may transmit your IP address and browser information to Google. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Optional NHTSA VIN decoding

If you submit a VIN on the towing-capacity-by-VIN page, your browser sends it directly to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vPIC API so the vehicle can be decoded. TowingIQ does not proxy, store, or add the VIN to a TowingIQ URL. NHTSA receives the VIN together with ordinary network information such as your IP address and browser headers; its handling of that request is governed by the NHTSA Privacy Policy. No request is made to vPIC unless you submit a VIN on that page.

Email Contact

If you choose to contact us via email at admin@towingiq.com, we will receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add contact emails to any mailing list, marketing database, or CRM system.

Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because we collect no personal information from any visitor, this concern is moot in practice.

Data Retention

Because TowingIQ does not collect information entered through the Site, there is no such data for us to retain or delete. NHTSA controls any records associated with an optional vPIC request. If you contact us by email, we retain your correspondence only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry.

Your Rights

Because TowingIQ does not collect, store, or process information you enter through the Site, there is no such data held by us to access, correct, export, or delete. NHTSA's policy governs optional vPIC requests. If you have questions about this, contact us at admin@towingiq.com.

Changes to This Policy

If we change our data practices — for example, by adding analytics or user accounts — we will update this Privacy Policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted on this page.
