Overview

TowingIQ ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at towingiq.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

The short version: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page use and performance. TowingIQ is a static reference site with no user accounts. Vehicle lookup runs in your browser. If you choose to use the VIN decoder, your browser sends the VIN directly to NHTSA. Email and optional review feedback are handled as described below.

Information We Collect

Personal information

There are no user accounts, login forms, registration flows, or sign-up prompts on this Site. A VIN submitted through the optional decoder is not added to a TowingIQ URL or stored by TowingIQ; it is sent from your browser to NHTSA as described below. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you include in your message.

Usage data and analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. A browser script, also called a beacon, sends page-view and performance information to Cloudflare. The service reports page paths, referring pages, browser and device types, country-level location, and page-load and Core Web Vitals measurements. These statistics help us understand which guides people use and where site performance needs attention.

Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as cookieless and says it does not fingerprint visitors or track them across websites. Cloudflare also states that Web Analytics does not log URL query strings. Analytics requests still involve a connection to Cloudflare and ordinary network information needed to handle that connection. Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising cookies, and Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies to identify visitors. Some interface features use browser storage to remember a dismissed hint. Optional review pages can save your feedback in your own browser and let you download it. That feedback is not automatically submitted to TowingIQ; you can remove it using the review page's clear control or your browser's storage controls. The VIN decoder does not save your VIN in local or session storage.

Advertising and analytics scripts

Cloudflare supplies the analytics beacon described above. We do not use advertising networks, retargeting services, session-replay tools, or social media tracking widgets. We do not send VINs or entered vehicle details as custom analytics events.

Server logs

Our hosting infrastructure may automatically collect standard server access logs, which can include your IP address, browser user-agent string, referring URL, and the pages you requested. These logs are maintained by our hosting provider as part of normal server operations and are not accessed or analyzed by TowingIQ for any purpose beyond infrastructure security and uptime monitoring.

Third-Party Services

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts the Site and provides the analytics service described above. Hosting involves processing network information, such as your IP address and browser headers, to deliver and secure the Site. Cloudflare's handling of that information is described in its Privacy Policy. We do not use hosting access logs for marketing or profiling.

Fonts

The Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When you visit a page, your browser makes a request to Google's font servers to retrieve the font files. This request may transmit your IP address and browser information to Google. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Optional NHTSA VIN decoding

If you submit a VIN on the towing-capacity-by-VIN page, your browser sends it directly to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vPIC API so the vehicle can be decoded. TowingIQ does not proxy, store, or add the VIN to a TowingIQ URL. NHTSA receives the VIN together with ordinary network information such as your IP address and browser headers; its handling of that request is governed by the NHTSA Privacy Policy. No request is made to vPIC unless you submit a VIN on that page.

Email Contact

If you choose to contact us via email at admin@towingiq.com, we will receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add contact emails to any mailing list, marketing database, or CRM system.

Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13 and has no accounts or forms intended to request personal information from children.

Data Retention

Cloudflare handles analytics data under its service policies, and NHTSA controls records associated with an optional vPIC request. We do not maintain a database of submitted VINs. Locally saved review feedback remains in your browser until you clear it. If you contact us by email, we retain your correspondence only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry.

Your Rights

Contact us at admin@towingiq.com with questions about our data practices or information you have sent us. You can clear locally saved review feedback in your browser. Cloudflare and NHTSA describe their own data practices and contact options in the policies linked above.

Changes to This Policy

If we change our data practices — for example, by adding a different analytics service or user accounts — we will update this Privacy Policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted on this page. The October 2, 2026 update discloses the existing Cloudflare Web Analytics service and clarifies browser storage and email handling.
